All of the training at High Prairie Farms Flushing Spaniels, LLC is done by me. I control and am responsible for every aspect of training and dog care. I limit the number of training dogs to allow adequate time for the proper care and training of each individual dog. Due to my location, I can accommodate training year round. I use an approach that I feel produces a kind, attentive animal that has confidence in the worst cover. My emphasis is on developing and competing with natural talent. I place significant emphases on all of the smallest details: proper wind patterns, natural range and honestly steady to flush, shot and whistle. This combination makes for the truly Competitive Spaniel!
The “Competitive Edge” at High Prairie Farms Flushing Spaniels, LLC is exhibited on the AKC Open Springer Spaniel field trial circuit. I started actively field trialing in 1989. In 1998, I was blessed with the opportunity to handle dogs for Bird Dog Hall of Fame inductee, Mr. Roy E. French, of the legendary and historic Denalisunflo Kennel. I, successfully, campaigned dogs, on a National level, for Mr. French until his death in November, 2003.
To date, I have campaigned six Open Field Champion Springers, including: FC Aberdu Slip, FC Larford Fragg, FC Badgerdyke Buccaneer, FC Denalisunflo’s Tim, FC Denalisunflo’s Stretch and FC Denalisunflo’s Drive. FC Denalisunflo’s Drive (Teaser) was the 1999 Rocky Mountain High Point Open dog, the 2001 U.S. Open High Point field trial dog and the 2002 Mid-West High Point Open dog. In 2001, I placed second in standings for professional field trial handlers of Field English Springer Spaniels in the United States. In addition, I have had numerous placements and wins with many other dogs. We are now expanding to carry our success into the Field English Cocker Spaniel field trial circuit.
I am very selective on what I will compete with. To me it is a matter of selecting the best dogs to run, not just running a large number of dogs. Competition is getting stronger all the time, so I will only run animals that I personally feel can win on a regular basis. I believe in your money being well spent!
A field trial dog is a finely tuned athletic animal that possesses all of the needed genetic traits and training to be a superior hunting spaniel in a competitive environment. Each dog is trained and finely tuned to the highest of standards. Field trial dogs are the superior bird finders and retrievers. Combining these skills with outstanding style and animation! High Prairie Farms Flushing Spaniels, LLC strives for perfection in the field training of Field English Springer and Cocker Spaniels. We offer the best of the best!
I have successfully competed from coast to coast in the United States and have a thorough understanding of what it takes to be competitive on a National level. My main running areas are the Mid-West, Rocky Mountain and Western states with an occasional run in Western Canada. If you would like to have a Spaniel campaigned on a National level or you just need help in reaching your own personal competitive goals; High Prairie Farms Flushing Spaniels, LLC field trial services are here to give you the “Competitive Edge”!
The price for field trial handling services is $450.00 (U.S.) per month, plus the cost of training birds and your share of traveling expenses. Since I limit the number of dogs in training, reservations are highly recommended.
Perfection is our goal!
